1. I'm not letting the bastards get me down. Maybe I'm in denial. But I'm not giving up.
2. Going to WVTF this morning to record another essay. I hope I can do it without crying. It's a hard essay for me to read.
3. I called a realtor yesterday about this house I love in the Tree Streets area. It's a foreclosure, unfortunately. Good price. Huge. Lots of bathrooms. But the foreclosure means that you can't do a contract on the house with any kind of contingency. You need the money in hand. We have to sell our house before we could buy another so it would not work.
4. Moving right along on the packing up of things. Not moving fast enough, but still, we are progressing.
5.I do love that house on Quenton.
1. WHOOOOOSSSHHH. That was a deer coming up behind and running past
me--not more than 2 feet away from me. So glad it was not a bear. I'd
have passed out for sure. Almost did just from the deer. It was big and
I was blissed out on my music, didn't hear it coming.
2. Okay. The skunks are over there, ahead of me, and so I'm turning around. They are so big and beautiful.
3. Now all I need to see is a snake and a bobcat during my runs and my life will be complete. lol.
4. So warm this morning I had to stop at the house and take half my clothes off.
5. "I feel you, JoAnna"...what a great song and I'm so glad Tess has it on her Ipod.
1. Thankful I can squeeze a run in. Tess is still home. Eric is leaving
a little later this morning so I can run. Evidently, he likes me better,
too, when I run. ;-)
2. Calling the dr. this morning. I don't think she has the flu. Her tonsils are swollen.
3. I should REALLY pay more attention to the school schedule. I had no
idea they were only going half a day today and were off on Monday. I'm
supposed to record a radio essay on Monday and I've canceled so many
times already.
4. I think National Novel Writing Month is more for people who don't have kids. I'm trying, but life keeps interrupting me.
5. The pie book reprint--YAY! Still waiting on the sales report. Can't wait to see those figures.
1. National Novel Writing Month. So far, so good.
2. I've always tried to walk my own truth. I don't think that's been
happening lately. Sometimes truth changes or shifts and you look around
and think: Where am I? Time to figure it out before I make myself sick.
3. Can not believe how prolific my writing buddies are. MAN!
4. Sky is so blue today and it's so brisk. Love feeling the cold on my skin.
5. Making several phone calls today. Are you on my list? Hmmmm.
1. I figured out how to cha-cha and run at the same time. Hips Don't Lie. How could you NOT dance when it comes on your ipod?
2. Talking about running last night with Dawn and Kathy. I realized that I REALLY don't care what people who drive by or are looking out their windows think about me as I move along the road. It's about me--not them--and they need to mind their own business.
3. Cha-cha is kind of a good metaphor my my run. One big step forward, three small steps back ward. Add a little hip in there. There you have it.
4. My new novel I started as part of National Novel Writing month. I've been thinking about it a long time. Working title "Maggie Rae's Scrapbook." Moving right along.
5. Going in to C-ville on Friday to record another radio essay.
1. I really don't like the El Camino. It's disturbing. Is it a car? Is it a truck?
2. There has been a bear sighting on Rosser Ave.--last night around midnight. And the neighbor said a bear killed and ate two pigs in Afton. I thought bears did not eat meat. Neighbor says they will-if they are hungry enough.
3. GREAT morning for a run. Half way through, I peel off my sweat shirt. Ahhh. Nice cool air on my arms.
4. Red velvet cake. I promised I'd make one for Eric, from scratch, for his birthday in a few weeks. Pie seems so much easier to me. But if he wants a cake...he gets a cake. But why do I feel like I am cheating on pie? (smirk)
5. Not doing the author signing even at Stone Soup in December. My daughters will be dancing that day at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville. Priorities. It will be a thrilling moment. Both girls in the same show--Irish dancing. Can't miss that. But if you want to buy pie books for Christmas or Hannukah gifts, I'll sign them. No problem.
1. It's "bleeping" cold.
2. It's "bleeping" wet.
3. Wish the dog would GO already.
4. Had so much fun last night. Got bits and pieces of interesting news between the tricks and treats and chasing the children.
5. No running today. It's too cold and wet. The rain is COLD. I hope to run tomorrow.
1. Smell of Pine. Mmmmmmm.
2. The Schwann's man. He's back in our neighborhood. He stopped by and
said "You cut all your hair off." I said,"What?" "I'm the guy from a
few years ago..." And he blushed as I realized who he is. He came to
the door once when I was doing a head stand...against the door...in my
underwear. Long story. LOL. My daughters were both convinced that's why
he never came back.
3. I am being a butterfly tonight. I have purple sparkly wings. My
daughters want nothing to do with purple or sparkles. Tess is a Goth
cheerleader and Emma is Lady Macbeth. So someone has to embrace the
sparkles. Balance, you know.
4. Balmy. I hope it stays that way for tonight.
5. So good to see Jennifer and Heather handing out candy yesterday in downtown.
1. Emma insisting on going to school today. Hmmm. She has no fever, but she still doesn't look good to me. I may get a phone call in he middle of the day.
2. The sky had that pink moonstone look to it this morning, again.
3. My yellow scarf. It's the perfect scarf for running. It's warm and yet it has lovely big holes in it that allow me to breathe if I have to wrap it around my mouth. I don't really like the look of it and don't remember where it came from.
4. Really focusing on where that pain in my back is coming from. I have a tendency to ignore pain--a habit from my dance and gymnastics years--until it gets so bad that I need to go to a dr.
5. Man, I can't believe the rejections I'm getting on my memoir. They are the BEST rejections I've ever gotten in my life, full of praise, but not quite right for their list.
